Two cakes, and one lunch.

Today was a good day the weather was beautiful perfect for a wedding. I had one wedding and one quinceanera party. The quinceanera cake was for a darling young lady that is turning 15. The wedding cake is for a bride that found me on the internet from my website. I spoke with her quite a few times and we became friends so I went to the luncheon and had a wonderful meal at the Salt Lake Country Club. I don't usually go to the reception but Stacy was so charming I could not pass it up.

Simple but Outstanding

Last Saturday I delivered a wedding cake to The Canterbury Place in Bountiful. It is always fun forking with the different brides, seeing what the two of us can come up with. Tiffany did not want fondant so it was a simple butter cream with a black ribbon and a bright red anemone flower on the side. The cake was set up in the middle of the room. The colors were simple, table centerpieces were white and green so the bright red anemone on the cake stood out. The Anemone was made out of gum paste so it is all edible which I think is fabulous.

Ice Cream stands at receptions

During the month of January I was fortunate enough to go to many wedding shows at the Salt Palace, South Town Expo Center, Joseph Smith and The Canterbury Place. It seems that there is a new trend for wedding receptions. There were at least 4 different ice cream venders there. Of course I love the idea because ice cream goes great with a fabulous wedding cake. The companies that were there were Scoopology, Twists, Leatherby's Family Creamery, and A day to Remember. Scoopology has many different flavors with all sorts of toppings, Twists is an ice cream machine that people can serve them selves and they have toppings, you have probably been to Leatherby’s so you know how good it is. A day to Remember has gelato, italian ice or ice cream. I had my daughters with me and we sampled all of them so I can verify the quality is fantastic. I am sure there are many different companies that do this, but these are the ones I am acquainted with. Have a great day and if you are thinking about a ice cream stand at your wedding enjoy taste testing them.

New cake displays

I spent last weekend at the Salt Palace working the bridal show. I was surprised how many people were there. I have been pretty busy getting my display cakes ready. I took my daughters with me, Abigail was there the whole time handing out samples and working. Olivia had a hard time standing still so she spent most of the time getting tre4ats for many of the booths around us. On the 22nd I will be dividing my time between the Joseph Smith Memorial Show and the Canterbury Show. Here are a couple pictures of my booth. What do you think of my new cakes?
